Chisomo Bowl Basket

Handmade in Masiphumelele in Cape Town, these are made from a reed plant called
Typha capensis (also known as bulrush) The reeds grow rapidly in urban areas situated close to fresh water, leading to loss of habitat and wetlands drying out. Controlled removal is therefore important. The makers harvest the reeds, dry them and weave unique products like this.
